Discover this monumental antique Chinese Imari bowl from the late nineteenth century. Although the color palette immediately recalls traditional Japanese Arita porcelain, this imposing cabinet bowl was nonetheless crafted in the renowned Chinese kilns of Jingdezhen. Around 1880, European demand for the characteristic Imari palette was so great that Chinese master painters began perfectly copying this style for the international export market. The Authentic Qianlong Mark and the Sound<\/h2>\n

On the underside is a four-character mark in underglaze cobalt blue: \u300c\u4e7e\u9686\u5e74\u88fd\u300d (Qianlong Nian Zhi). This is a so-called apocryphal mark referring to the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736\u20131795). This mark was applied at the time by 19th-century potters as a quality stamp and tribute to the past.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the extremely high firing temperature, the porcelain clay has completely vitrified. This is reflected not only in the substantial weight of 1.6 kg, but also in the exceptional condition of the object. The bowl is completely intact. As a result, when lightly touched, the dish produces a pristine, crystal-clear tone. This is the ultimate proof that the porcelain is free of internal hairlines or hidden restorations. Finally, a small iron-red glaze splatter on the base is a reminder of the traditional firing process in the old wood-burning kilns.<\/p>\n
