Went hunting for antique mirrors again this weekend. Together with my mentor, we traveled to an antique market in the early morning. It is always a surprise what you will find. However, we have noticed that finding beautiful antique mirrors in good condition is gradually becoming a rarity. It is truly searching and making sure you are the first one there. There is nothing more annoying than seeing beautiful mirrors slip through your fingers. But we got lucky.

Thanks to the experience and alertness of my mentor, we managed to acquire a gorgeous, two-meter-high narrow mirror today. The mirror is in good condition, but needs a little love and tenderness. A quick clean and it will soon be ready to be posted on the site.

The transport took quite a bit of effort because of the length. But moving the front seat well forward and sitting uncomfortably for the duration of the trip did the job. Once we've made our haul, we always “pick the raisins out of the porridge” [cherry-pick]. One of these gems was a beautiful portrait of a lady. The work is signed, but we don't know who the artist is yet. This will require some research, but that's also what makes this work so much fun.
