Why buy this Balinese woodcarving of Vishnu on Garuda?

This hand-carved, mid-century Balinese sculpture brings atmosphere and mysticism to your interior. With an impressive height of 38 cm and a massive weight of no less than 2.7 kg is this object an absolute eye-catcher.
Furthermore, this vintage sculpture is in exceptionally pristine condition. Thanks to its warm, reddish-brown wood tone, the piece also combines beautifully with modern, eclectic, and truly unique interior styles.

Amsterdam origin and exclusive Sawo wood

This sculpture from the 1960s/1970s bears the original art gallery sticker “Asian Art” (D. Eberhardt) at Damstraat 14 in Amsterdam, supplemented with a hand-carved “BALI” inscription on the base. The statue is crafted from a single solid, heavy piece Sapodilla wood instead of lighter Suar wood, which provides a fine grain and warm glow.

Craftsmanship and mint condition

The performance shows Vishnu on the bird god Garuda, richly decorated with a tortoise and Naga snakes. The specimen is in a rare pristine condition without damage to the wingtips, feathers, or fine details.
